Damn you greener grass on the other side

posted 1 year ago

My recent trip to Hong Kong and seeing all those analysts in suits has me toying up the idea of getting back to the corporate life and prancing around in my French-cuffed shirts made from Egyptian cotton again.

Yeah, I use to be one of those pretentious people working in an office with partners, where I would try to walk very fast and talk heaps of jargon. It had its upsides. Company credit card. Client luncheons. Business trips. Feeling important because of a title change with no monetary attachments.

However, the downsides got to me. The late nights, absurd requests from your seniors and how you can only take a few days off out of the whole year to regain your sanity by taking a short vacation.

Now that I’m a freelance writer who can choose to work my own hours and locations, I’m beginning to feel that my life lacks that unsympathetic manager who breaths down your neck and gives you unreasonable deadlines.

What the heck, maybe the flashing lights of designer stores in Hong Kong got to me.
